2012: What Are You Doing?

VIP Athletics

Taking Part in 2012
VIP Participation Events with Great Britain Athletes

Athletes

Please note these events are not official London 2012 events and are organised independently by Paragon Sports Management.

The Opportunity

2012 is a huge year for Great Britain, with the world’s attention firmly focused on London and a general public eager to get involved.

The Problem

From a corporate perspective, the opportunity to “get involved” is extremely limited, with restricted places in hospitality and extremely prohibitive pricing for the high-profile events.

The Solution

In response to this challenge, Paragon has designed a set of participation experiences that will allow our clients – and in turn their clients – to get stuck in to the atmosphere. These events are the ideal way to utilise 2012 for team-building or corporate entertainment, with the emphasis on enjoyment and friendly competition for all levels, whether a seasoned pro or an absolute beginner.

The Experience

Our guests will take part in some of the highest-profile sports, and do so alongside some of the best athletes in Great Britain. They’ll challenge these sportsmen and women at their own game and learn what it takes to compete and train at the top level. They’ll then enjoy their company as they join them for drinks and a gourmet meal.

  • In Rowing, guests will get up close with Steve Williams, Greg Searle, Katherine Grainger or Pete Reed at Eton Dorney, venue for the rowing competition in 2012. They’ll hear about the pain, the early starts and the dedication of these top sportspeople, but once on the water the emphasis will be on fun. Before the finish they’ll go head-to-head in a race to put into practice what they’ve learned.

  • In Athletics, guests can see if they can throw the javelin further than Steve Backley, jump higher than Kelly Sotherton and challenge 400m specialist Roger Black around a lap of the track at Mile End Stadium, in the shadow of the new venues at Stratford.

  • In Sailing, guests will be taught how to crew and helm the small laser-class sailing yachts used in top-level competition. They’ll be at Weymouth and Portand National Sailing Academy – another 2012 venue – and will be taken through their paces by Ben Ainslie, Sarah Ayton, Shirley Robertson or Nick Thomson.
