Case Study 1: World Cup Football Screenings with Celebrity Speakers

Paragon hosted two screenings of England’s matches during their World Cup campaign during the summer, based around central London.  Each event was to provide clients with food, drink and great views of the football. Both to slightly differ depending on the match opponents, influencing the clientele, the venue, catering and celebrity speaker.

The opposing team, game date and time of match had a huge influence on Paragon's organisation of each event.  A 6pm Kick Off on a Friday evening was ideal for those city slickers wanting to start their evening early; enjoying drinks, a light bite and live football coverage of England v Algeria straight from work.

The Devonshire Terrace, a popular classic bar was chosen to play host, not only for its central location and its large open layout but for the amount of visibility it would offer including a large 4 x 3 m screen. This stood outside adjacent to the bar but under an impressive glass roof ceiling.

It was imperative that the event provided a great atmosphere for all those supporters, that guests were constantly replenished with drinks and good food as they united together to watch a nervous game of World Cup football.

The tension was broken at half time by Tony Cascarino who chatted to the legendary Phil Tufnell of his expectations of the second half, which unfortunately didn’t prove the outcome hoped for.  Paragon however certainly achieved their goal as the event showed a fantastic result, even though the football itself did not!

Following this great success, Paragon invited 180 guests for a much more formal occasion during England v Slovenia. A 3pm Kick Off on a mid-week date, Le Bouchon Bretton; a beautiful authentic city restaurant provided a Champagne reception outside on the terrace. Guests were then spoilt not only by the fine wines bought in especially but the five-course sit down dinner where the meat was instantly hand carved and served.

Guests were entertained not only by the great game but by Phil Tufnell and Matt Le Tissier, who spoke of their aspirations of the afternoon. Not to mention some fantastic prizes were taken home from the charity raffle, helping raise money for the Paragon Foundation. The atmosphere was electric created by England ‘on field’ and PSM ‘off field’, achieving a truly success afternoon!

Case Study 2: The Paragon Foundation Launch Dinner

In 2010 Paragon launched the Paragon Foundation, to raise money for worthy causes, usually linked to sport and helping children.  The Foundation started work with a spectacular dinner for 500 people at The Park Lane Hotel.

This black tie charity event raised funds for The Rainbow Trust and Sport4Life.  The evening began with a Champagne reception, before Gabby Logan invited the guests to be seated in the Ballroom - filled with elegant candlelight and floral decor - for a gourmet three course dinner.  During the evening there was an interactive Question of Sport with Phil Tufnell and Willie Thorne and a Q & A with sporting celebrities including Ashes-winning England cricket Captain Andrew Strauss, World Cup football hero Sir Geoff Hurst and Rugby World Cup winner Mike Catt.  After the Grand Charity Auction hosted by Willie Thorne it was time for guests to withdraw to the VIP bar for the after-party.

This event really was a remarkable evening for all, one that required a huge amount of organisation, time, dedication and management. With so many factors to consider and so many high profile personalities involved, it was imperative to produce a well-orchestrated event that ran smoothly and efficiently.

A hugely successfully and memorable evening that raised a large amount of money for a worthy cause. Thank you to all those who gave their time and effort to help support and ensure this was a night to remember!
